What do Agility judges look for when judging this
event?
Agility is a sport
of speed and precision. The goal is to complete a course as quickly as possible
without any faults.
Faults have
different point values, and are deducted from 200 points. Faults
include:
§ refusal to take a jump or an obstacle; this
includes running by the obstacle and then going back and taking it.
§ knocking a bar down on a jump
§ not touching the yellow area on the down
side of the dog walk, A frame or teeter totter
There are 4 levels of agility:
Basic is for first year exhibitors, it has a simple course
with 10-12 obstacles with the dog on lead.
Sub Novice is for exhibitors with a
little more experience, it has a simple course with 10-12 obstacles,
the dog is on lead.
Novice is for
experienced exhibitors, it has a simple course with 10-12 obstacles, the
dog is shown off lead.
Advanced is designed
for the most experienced exhibitors and dogs, has 10 to 15 obstacles with
several obstacles being more difficult to perform, the dog is shown off
lead.
