What do Agility judges look for when judging this event?

Agility is a sport of speed and precision. The goal is to complete a course as quickly as possible without any faults.

Faults have different point values, and are deducted from 200 points. Faults include:

§  refusal to take a jump or an obstacle; this includes running by the obstacle and then going back and taking it.

§  knocking a bar down on a jump

§  not touching the yellow area on the “down side” of the dog walk, “A” frame or teeter totter

There are 4 levels of agility:

Basic is for first year exhibitors, it has a simple course with 10-12 obstacles with the dog on lead.

Sub Novice is for exhibitors with a little more experience, it has a simple course with 10-12 obstacles, the dog is on lead.

Novice is for experienced exhibitors, it has a simple course with 10-12 obstacles, the dog is shown off lead.

Advanced is designed for the most experienced exhibitors and dogs, has 10 to 15 obstacles with several obstacles being more difficult to perform, the dog is shown off lead.
